#NiseiWeek2018 | Celebrating 78 years of Japanese Culture in Little Tokyo
Little Tokyo is one of the oldest ethnic enclaves that is still in existence in America. Known for being Los Angeles's cultural epicenter for the Japanese American population, the 4 acres currently designated as "Little Tokyo" have been a historical gem in the community.
This week Little Tokyo celebrates its 78th Annual Nisei Week. 6 years were lost due to Japanese internment camps during WWII. Begining 84 years ago, in 1934, to illuminate the streets of Little Tokyo at a time when American was going through the Great Depression, Nisei Week is a time to spread the rich cultural inheritance of the Japanese people through flower arrangements, traditional dance, music and much more whiles sheading light on the surrounding merchants and creating a cultural bridge with all that support it.
Check out Sustain Little Tokyo and help the communities effort to keep the 3 remaining pieces of land together.
