#NYFW: CAAFD Emerging Designer’s Port Zienna & Zabetta Couture

February 10, 2018- My first stop for @nyfwofficial was the CAAFD, Council of Aspiring American Fashion Designers, showcase at Insutria Studios. Featuring a packed house and new talent, it was easy to fall in love with 2 off the showcase’s designers.

What drew me to both designers collection was their minimalism. Working in fashion over the years has made me look at black and white clothes differently. While they are always essential pieces in a wardrobe, they need to also stand out. Both Port Zienna & Zabetta Couture collections were able to do this.

Port Zienna, designed by Francesca Canepa, created wearable garments inspired haute couture and timeless fashion. The collection was simplistic and paired with clean cut seams, it created a great canvas for the usage of black and white. You can shop the collection at https://www.portzienna.com

Zabetta Couture, designed by New York born Ruth Zabetta, showcased artistry in minimalism. Thought-out silhouettes with an underling asian influence were used to accentuate the female silhouette. There is a possibility  the designer referenced fungi-su or other Japanese designing concepts when designing this collection. You can shop the collection at http://ruthzabetta.com/.
