Equality. Community. Bridges. Not Walls.

Closing out the summer, Angelenos were blessed with a festival that celebrated female-identifying musicians, chefs, artist and activist with performances by Lykke Li, CupcakKe, Megan Thee Stallion, Courtney Love, Cat Power, Sophie, Kelsey Lu, Empress of and Lia Ices..

Created by Yola Mezcal co-founders, Yola Jimenez, Gina Correll Aglietti and Lykke Li, Yola Día fest was used bring awareness against America’s current immigration policies and to celebrated the 99th anniversary of women’s right to vote in the United States. By building a safe space for all to enjoy, Yola Día fest made it possible for festival attendees to register to vote, they were able to auction off 27 flags designed by female artist to benefit the ACLU in their immigration light in California as they help asylum seekers and try to reunite families torn apart at the border and last but not lease create a incredible lineup that everyone enjoyed from start to finish.

As a music lover I hope they make this an annual occurrence. It was a beautiful experience.

Here’s a photo story of some of the performances.
