#NYFW | Calvin Luo SS19
Elegance. In the hustle and bustle of Metropolitan New York, the Calvin Luo SS19 fashion show is the collection for the career woman who dares to be Jackie Kennedy with flare. Periwinkle cocktail dresses, peal button accents, pencil skirts and smart suits graced the models in Luo’s 3rd NYFW showcase.
With string instruments playing the background, models walked amogst a garden of Hydrangeas and Baby’s Breath to showcase soft silhouettes inspired by the French film “Les Femmes De l’Ombre.” The SS19 muse’s is Lise de Baissac, a French WWII Special Operations Executive known for setting up secure loading and dropping zones for agents looking for help and information. She fits in perfectly with Luo’s evermore feminine inspirations.
Since his two year study at Parson’s and 2014 brand launch, the Luo muse has always been a representation of his love for 50’s era Americana and a clash of the 70’s, “Virgin Suicides” and 90’s suburban America. Each season the Calvin Luo woman has become more and more refined in her identity. This season is no different.
She is effortlessly beautiful. She is head turning. She is powerful.
Here are my favorite looks.
