For NMBR 09 designer, Jessenia Lopez, fashion is about sustainability and consideration.

“Handcrafted with Love. Small Batches. Natural Fibers. Zero Waste. All Local.”

Following NMBR 09’s motto, the NYFW F/W ’18 presentation was named “Deconstruction to Reconstruction” to outline Lopez’s Collection IV. Held in partnership with the Arlo Nomad Hotel’s “Arlo Cares” platform, the Midtown Manhattan hotel’s way of “inspiring sustainable changes in travel and beyond,” the collection showcased live models and casual styles for the everyday explorer of the urban jungle.

As I viewed the collection, I was able to speak briefly with Lopez. “What was your inspiration?” In a calm reply, her response was that she was creating backwards. She explained that her vision started with the silhouettes. For example, she knew that she wanted to create a t-shirt that was unique to her style but the focus was construction rather than fabrication. Lopez knew what she wanted then she figured out how to achieve it.

Wrapped pants were a main focus for the collection. Comfort, style and relaxation were essentials weaved into ever piece as the earthly color pallet washed over the garments. Calm is the perfect synonym to a laid-back aesthetic that gives of earthy apothecary vibes to match an equally serene creative mind. It’s a unique collection for the sustainable fashion consumer.

Follow NMBR 09 for more details on the Collection IV.
