A Safe Space w/ Deto Black, CLIP, Alemeda and Hu Dat at The Echo
WORDS & PHOTOS BY ASHA MONÉ
In a room full of vape smoke, micro braids, brown lip liner and matching gloss, the alternative Black gIRLS AND femmes take refuge. Thanks to Deto Black, CLIP, Alemeda and Hu Dat, those nostalgic Y2K vibes that plagued runways of yesteryear vibrate through the walls of the the echo, Thursday night.
their sonic delivery is a DEDICATED approach to there Bad Bitch personas and style; a familiar soundtrack for all the girls who grew up wanting to dress like bratz dolls, Sasha to be specific, but in telfar and Mowalola.
They are the new wave of the underground scene. Merging the area where fashion and music collide. It’s nice to see the next generation of black women who are going to influence trends in the future.
Looking forward to see how they continue to grow.
