Somehow, “In the Mood ft. Yung Bleu” missed many of our radars, and I blame the algorithm. This is what a radio hit should sound like.
After a three-year hiatus, THEY. is back with a new project and hot off of a new tour.
Last Thursday, THEY. Performed with Midwest rapper PDAE and Twins KAIRO to a crowd of 700+ loyal fans amongst the red velvet walls and chandelier-adorned ceilings of the El Rey for a hometown stop for their Nü Moon Tour.
If you aren’t familiar with the Los Angeles-based R&B Duo, look in your memory box. You might have heard them on tour with Bryson Tiller in 2015 or stumbled across their distinctive trap soul sound when K-R&B Artist Dean released his cover of the pair's hit song “Dante’s Creek” in 2016.
But if this is your first time hearing about THEY., which consists of Dante Jones and Drew Love, this is your chance to dive deep into their streaming sphere of low-fi movement jams with a feature-heavy classic R&B-inspired discography.
My night at the show consisted of jamming to nonstop energetic serenades as dotting fans screamed the lyrics to every song on their setlist. I was so impressed, not only by how great their show was but by how mesmerized their fanbase is, although they have only put out three complete projects in 7 years.
THEY. is proof that Quality over quantity wins every time. It is time for us all to tap in because we are missing out on quality music.
