Let's Have a Drink with keshi x Amazon Music
Photos & Words by Asha Moné
Last week, I was invited to screening party for the release of a short film featuring singer-songwriter, keshi, presented by Amazon Music.
With a runtime of 27 minutes and 14 seconds, the mini documentary, shot by keshi’s creative director, Kenji Chong, shows behind the scenes moments from the days before the release of his debut album “Gabriel” with Island records/UMG.
I’ve reviewed his LA tour stop at the Fonda already over on Grimy Goods, so you may possibly have seen me campaign for him to be the next “ Boy Next Door” figure and ask his fans what his music means to them, so I will skip the review on the documentary and implore you to watch so you can hear about the album from the artist himself. [It’s out on Youtube right now.]
But…even with an almost 30 minute runtime and a very PR driven and safe Q&A segment, me and fellow attendees were left wanting a little more. Personality, story, something… Everything felt very corporate for a moment that should be very intimate.
Glasses of House of Suntory cocktails and Lunar Hard Seltzers filled the room to create laid back atmosphere and there were hors d'oeuvre hiding in the back corner, but I digress. There aren’t many interviews out of Keshi and I wish we could have heard more cool things about him from him. Hell, give me and the other something to write about besides another LA party.
Anyway, keshi is currently getting ready for an Asia tour right now. Hopefully his team can set up a Vietnam stop, I know his fans would appreciate that.
